The Undertaker Wins at WWE Bragging RightsThe Phenom Pins Batista in Fatal Four Way Match at New Pay-Per-View
At WWE's new pay-per-view Bragging Rights, The Undertaker defeated Batista, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio in a Fatal Four Way match to retain his world championship.
The Fatal Four Way between Undertaker, CM Punk, Batista and Rey Mysterio was the third match at Bragging Rights. The rules for a Fatal Four Way match are that at least two competitors must be in the ring to fight, and all four wrestlers can fight at once. Whoever pins an opponent is deemed the winner. The champion, in this case The Undertaker, would not have to be pinned in order to lose the match. Undertaker vs. Batista, CM Punk and Rey MysterioThe Undertaker was easily the fan favorite that night, with even the popular Batista and Mysterio getting some boos. While there were four wrestlers involved in this bout, the match focused on Undertaker and Batista, with some Punk action as well. Punk almost immediately attacked Taker with punches and kicks, but Undertaker quickly retaliated by throwing Punk outside the ring, where Mysterio pounced on him. Batista and the Phenom then exchanged blows inside the ring, with Rey briefly getting some offense against Taker in between. Undertaker proved himself to be in better form at this pay-per-view, as he performed Old School against Batista, but CM Punk interrupted his attempt at the same move against Mysterio. Tension and Teamwork Between Batista and MysterioMysterio attempted to pin Taker, which Punk interrupted. Soon after Undertaker attempted to give the Last Ride to Mysterio, which Batista prevented with a spear. There was tension between Batista and Rey, who both were in a position to cover Undertaker. They stalled too long, and Taker sat up and choked Mysterio. Batista and Mysterio then teamed up so that Rey could give Taker the 619, while Batista chimed in with a spine buster. Batista then attempted to cover Taker but he kicked out. Punk re-entered the match and gave his finishing move Go to Sleep to Mysterio. He covered him, but Batista broke up the pin. Soon after that Undertaker caught Batista in Hell’s Gate, but Punk broke it up before the Animal could submit. Punk then got offense on Taker by punching him and giving him a running knee. The Undertaker retaliated with the Last Ride. Undertaker Wins the Fatal Four Way at Bragging RightsThe match finally ended when Undertaker was able to Tombstone Batista, and pinned him for the win. That was not the big surprise of the night, however. Rey Mysterio and Batista were known as being friends inside and outside the ring, but after Taker won, Batista attacked Mysterio and thus turned himself heel. Overall the Fatal Four Way was a solid match, with all wrestlers getting in decent offense on each other, and in the end The Undertaker retained his World Heavyweight Championship. With Batista turning heel, he may once again feud with The Undertaker as he did in 2007, or Taker may continue to feud with Punk. Either way the results promise to be interesting.
