Nine Matches Are Signed For this Sunday's Pay Per View
Here is a look at the card for Wrestlemania XXV.
Winner Takes All - Unified Tag Team Title Lumberjack Match
Miz and Morrison vs. Carlito and Primo
These teams have feuded for weeks leading up to this unification match. They have fought for the affections of the Bella Twins who have each taken sides. These four men are all great athletes and have had good matches in the past and Wrestlemania should be no different. The WWE is very high on Miz and Morrison as evidenced by their great exposure on WWE programming and they should come out on top here.
Prediction: Miz and Morrison
Intercontinental Title Match
JBL vs. Rey Mysterio
This match was thrown together at the last minute. Rey Mysterio is arguably the most exciting wrestler in the WWE today. JBL has done some good work in the ring recently. This should be a fun big man vs. little man match. JBL just won the title a few weeks ago so you wouldn't expect him to lose it this soon.
Prediction: JBL
Extreme Rules Match
Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy
This match came about because Matt Hardy was jealous of Jeff's success and cost Jeff the world title. It was a good idea making this an "extreme rules" match. Now they can use tables, ladders, and chairs, something that these two are experts at. Expect a lot of high risk maneuvers, especially from Jeff. The WWE is obviously higher on Jeff than Matt, but if they have any hopes of making a big star out of Matt, he needs to win this match.
Prediction: Matt Hardy
25 Diva "Miss Wrestlemania" Battle Royal
Should be a sight to behold seeing 25 beautiful divas, past and present, all in the ring at once. Expect the eliminations to be fast and furious. The favorites to win have to be Trish Stratus, Gail Kim, and Beth Phoenix. Trish is considered the greatest diva in WWE history and is certainly a threat to win this. Gail Kim debuted in the WWE winning a battle royal for the women's title and winning this would be a great way to reestablish her as a title threat. The biggest favorite, though, has to be Beth Phoenix. She is the most dominant diva and a strong contender to win any battle royal. Based on the build up, expect Santino to be involved somehow, either helping Beth or costing her the match.
Prediction: Beth Phoenix
Money In The Bank Ladder Match
C.M. Punk vs. Kane vs. Mark Henry vs. MVP vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Christian vs. Finlay
The MITB Ladder Match has become one of the highlights of Wrestlemania. It is used much like the King of the Ring used to be, to elevate a young star to the next level. Having said that, the favorites have to be Shelton Benjamin, Christian, and MVP. Benjamin has long been considered one of the best athletes in the WWE and he was the star of some of the prior MITB ladder matches. Winning this one would be a nice reward for him. Christian is a very talented performer who is no stranger to ladder matches and winning this one would help establish him as a top player. MVP, though, is the best all-around performer in this match and the one most ready for a main event push.
Prediction: MVP
Chris Jericho vs. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, and Rowdy Roddy Piper
Jericho is the best all-around performer in the WWE today and should have been in a world title match but he'll have to settle for this. This is the culmination of the Jericho vs. Legends feud. It should conjure up feelings of nostalgia seeing the legends compete at Wrestlemania. This match will end either of two ways. Flair and/or Rourke will interfere costing Jericho the match or Jericho will win and then get beat down by the legends after the match. Jericho hasn't won a match at Wrestlemania since 2001 so, hopefully, for his sake, it will be the latter.
Prediction: Chris Jericho
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
This is a strong contender for match of the night. These are two of the greatest legends in WWE history and they always bring their A game at Wrestlemania. They both had great matches at last year's Wrestlemania and this year should be no different. The Undertaker's entrance is one of the most grandiose spectacle in all of sports entertainment and they should have something special planned in his hometown of Houston. Normally this one would be tough to call, but this is Wrestlemania, where Undertaker never loses.
Prediction: Undertaker
World Title Match
Edge vs. Big Show vs. John Cena
The storyline for this match featured a love triangle between Edge, Big Show, and Vickie Guerrero and blackmail by John Cena in order to be included in the match. Should be a good match but wouldn't expect a classic. Expect Cena and Edge to work together against Big Show before turning on each other. Big Show has been built up well but he is not ready for a world title reign at this time so it should come down to Edge and Cena. Edge has done a good job as world champion but Cena is the biggest star in wrestling today, he is the face of the WWE, and he rarely loses a big match, especially at Wrestlemania.
Prediction: John Cena
WWE Title Match
HHH vs. Randy Orton
This match has a great build up. It started when Orton won the Royal Rumble, eliminating HHH last. Then Orton attacked HHH's in-laws Vince and Shane, as well as his wife Stephanie. Orton has gone on to attack HHH with the help of his buddies Dibiase and Rhodes. HHH has attacked Orton in his own home and has just about reached his breaking point. This should be a very entertaining and intense match up. Orton is the hottest thing in wrestling right now and a win here would cement him as "The Man" but the way the storyline has gone, expect HHH, who hasn't won a Wrestlemania match since 2003, to get his revenge and keep the title.
