The WWE presents Extreme Rules live this Sunday from New Orleans, Louisiana and, as the title implies, every match will have an "extreme" stipulation.
Here is a preview of WWE Extreme Rules, which will feature several rematches from Judgment Day. Vickie Guerrero vs. Santina Marella (Hog Pen Match for title of "Miss Wrestlemania")Santino/a is one of the most entertaining personalities on Raw and Vickie is a great heel, but this one has "bad idea" written all over it. Hopefully it will be kept relatively short. It is always great to see the authority figure get their commupance so expect Vickie to roll around in the slop and Santina to come out on top. Prediction: Santina Umaga vs. C.M. Punk (Samoan Strap Match)Despite their contrasting styles, these two have put on some good matches recently, including one last Thursday on Smackdown. The stipulation here should take the physicality to another level. C.M. Punk got a clean win over Umaga on Smackdown and if they hope to build Umaga as a monster heel again, they can't have him lose twice in a week, especially with a stipulation that he chose himself. Prediction: Umaga Big Show vs. John Cena (Submission Match)These two have had some good matches in the past and this one should be no different. There should be some interesting psychology in this match leading to the submission holds. Big Show is a strong heel but Cena is the biggest star in wrestling and the face of the WWE, so there is no way he is saying "I quit." A big deal has been made of Cena's inability to apply the STF on Big Show. Cena has made a career out of overcoming the odds and silencing the doubters, so expect him to finally lock in the STF and pick up the win. Prediction: John Cena Kofi Kingston vs. MVP vs. William Regal vs. Matt Hardy (Fatal Four Way U.S. Title Match)This one was kind of thrown together at the last minute but it is nice to see the U.S. title defended at the pay per view. These four have worked well together in recent weeks so this figures to be a fun, action-packed match. Don't expect Kofi to lose the title this soon, so expect him to pin Regal (he has already pinned Hardy and MVP on Raw) and retain the title. Hopefully, MVP will be moved into the main event picture after this pay per view. Prediction: Kofi Kingston Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio (No Holds Barred IC Title Match)Jericho and Mysterio are two of the most entertaining wrestlers in the WWE and should put on another great performance here and maybe even top their match from last month. Expect a lot of high flying, high impact maneuvers and perhaps the use of weapons to spice things up. Surely, Jericho will go after the mask early and often and that could sidetrack him from the ultimate goal of winning the title. And really, Jericho is above the IC title and they have been teasing a World Title feud between him and Edge so don't expect him to win the IC title here. Jericho has so much credibility that even no matter how often he loses, he is still viewed as a huge star and a legit world title contender, so another loss to Mysterio shouldn't hurt him too much, especially if he gets his heat back by attacking Mysterio after the match and possibly unmasking him. As for Mysterio, another win over Jericho will help establish him as a dominant IC champion. Prediction: Mysterio Jack Swagger vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian (Triple Threat ECW Title Match)This will be the third straight pay per view that Swagger and Christian will face each other but this time Dreamer will be thrown into the mix. Hopefully this will be very physical, very violent, and involve a lot of weapons in an homage to the original ECW. That would be right up Dreamer's alley and allow him to do what he does best. Common sense dictates that, after Dreamer left Christian laying on ECW, Christian gets his revenge here by defeating him. However, Dreamer has stated that if he doesn't win, he retires. Dreamer is a consumate professional and was the heart and soul of the original ECW and winning the title here would be a nice reward for all he's done for the wrestling business and all he's meant to ECW over the years. It's a longshot, but going with the sentimental pick here. Prediction: Tommy Dreamer Edge vs. Jeff Hardy (World Title Ladder Match)This one is a strong contender for Match of the Night. These two work well together and they both have a lot of experience in ladder matches. Although, while Jeff Hardy has made all the highlight reels, Edge has done most of the winning. This match should be very physical and very intense and the ladders will be used as weapons. Expect Jeff to pull out some awe-inspiring maneuvers and wow the crowd. Expect Edge to deliver his usual steady performance. They have already said that the feud will end here and, as mentioned earlier, they have been teasing an Edge vs. Jericho feud, so expect Edge to retain after teasing a Jeff Hardy win. Prediction: Edge Randy Orton vs. Batista (WWE Title Steel Cage Match)This has been a somewhat lackluster feud. There has been almost as much time put into the Orton vs. Flair feud as Orton vs. Batista. Speaking of Flair, Orton looked awfully weak needing Legacy's help to take care of the old man. He really needs a win here to regain some credibility. Orton needs some fresh opponents as his matches vs. HHH and Batista have been very average. You would think Legacy will be involved somehow. The steel cage will not necessarily keep them out, they can just climb over it. Steel cage matches generally end feuds so expect Orton, who technically lost to Batista last month, to come out on top and hopefully move on to feud with MVP next. Not sure where Batista goes from here though. Perhaps a feud with Dibiase and/or Rhodes. That would help elevate their status. Prediction: Randy Orton
