WWE Judgement Day 09 Raw and ECW PredictionsPreview of Raw/ECW Matches Scheduled for May 17th and Live Results
On the 17th May titles will be on the line and grudges will be settled as Judgement Day hits the Allstate Arena in Rosemont Illinois.
For the first time in over a year Raw looks set to lose out on Pay Per View space as Smackdown has grabbed the lions share of matches at Judgement Day. As usual ECW has just one scheduled match but it has the potential to outshine some of the more well promoted bouts on the card. Christian (c) Vs. Jack Swagger for the ECW ChampionshipFor a few weeks many were speculating that ECW Original Tommy Dreamer would somehow wind up being involved in this match, which is essentially a carbon copy of Backlash. However, Dreamer's addition never materialised and it now seems he might be the first target of the freshly formed Hart Foundation, so the match remains a 1 on 1 affair. There is no doubt that both men can put on a good show, but unless they pull out all the stops and make it better than the bout that opened Backlash the fans may lose interest quickly. Prediction: Christian spent three months chasing the title so it doesn't seem likely he'd lose it so quickly. Christian to retain. The Big Show Vs. John CenaThis has to be the dullest match on the card and was screaming out for a stipulation to be added. The main driving force behind this one has been the will he/won't he angle regarding Cena's fitness. The problem with this is that for years now Cena has been pushed as a 'never say die' character without an ounce of quit in him, so the idea he might decide not to compete was never actually an option. Strangely just days before Judgement Day Goldust decided to get involved in Big Show's business; interjecting himself into the main event of 'Superstars' as Show looked like destroying Hornswoggle. Whether The Bizarre One has a problem with Show remains to be seen, but his involvement in this match would certainly promote it from being an average bout to at least a talking point. Prediction: John Cena to win against the odds. Randy Orton (c) Vs. Batista for the WWE ChampionshipConsidering Batista was responsible for Triple H's loss at Backlash it seems slightly odd that he should get the first title shot of Orton's WWE Championship reign, but the slim selection of main event wrestlers at the top of the Raw card made his selection an easy one for the writers. The numbers certainly seem to be stacked against Batista as with the help of 'Legacy' Orton has put both Triple H and Shane McMahon out of action. However, the Animal has fought valiantly and launched a damaging attack just days before the title match, giving him the momentum that just might lead to a victory come Judgement Day. Orton will undoubtedly have Priceless waiting in the wings and it's quite possible that either Shane McMahon, Vince McMahon, M.V.P or even Triple H will make an appearance to even the odds. Prediction: Despite Batista's momentum and the possibility of some support, it would be damaging to his career for Orton to drop the belt less than a month after winning it. Orton to win by hook or by crook. For more information on WWE Judgement Day including Live Results Click Here or For Smackdown Match Predictions Click Here
