Preview of SD & ECW Matches Scheduled for Feb 15th and Live Results

The Superstars of the WWE are set to hit the KeyArena in Seattle, WA on the 15th February. Find out all the background, rumours, predictions and Live Results here!

The card for this year's No Way Out looks to be a bit thin on the ground, with Smackdown and ECW only having one bout each listed just days before the event. Whether matches will be added on the night remains to be seen, but the matches that are planned look set to excite fans and make the last stop on the Road to Wrestlemania a memorable one.

Jack Swagger (c) vs. Finlay for the ECW Championship

For a while now ECW has been the largely unwatched third brand, and while it doesn't look likely that it will overtake Raw or Smackdown in terms of viewers any time soon it is certainly improving in every sense. The quality of wrestling recently has been of a very high calibre and the recent return of Christian shows that the creative team are ready to invest serious talent in the brand, either that or they are punishing him for the circumstances in which he left the company 3 years ago. Either way it has made for some pretty good entertainment in the run up to No Way Out.

With that in mind a match between Swagger and Finlay may seem like a let down to most, but the truth is they had a very good match on ECW a few weeks ago and there is no reason to suggest why this one wouldn't be as good if not better. Swagger has that blue chip potential seen in current main eventers when they started out, such as John Cena and Randy Orton, and provided he can slightly improve his promo delivery he could be a contender for main event status come Wrestlemania XXVI.

Prediction: Swagger to retain the title and go on to face Christian at Wrestlemania, or possibly even before.

Edge (c) Vs. Triple H Vs. Jeff Hardy Vs. The Big Show Vs. The Undertaker Vs. Vladimir Kozlov in an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship

The Joy of the Elimination Chamber is that they are kept as an event specific match each year. A lot of the other gimmick matches in the WWE have lost emphasis due to the amount of times they get used, whereas certain bouts such as the Elimination Chamber, Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank stay special as they are restricted to one time a year events.

This year the fans are treated to two in a row, and on the face of it the Smackdown one looks to hold more 'could win it' candidates. Other than Kozlov and perhaps The Big Show, any of the other participants could win the match and go on to main event Wrestlemania XXV.

  • Putting the title back on Jeff could be counter-productive and it is likely that he will be in the Money in the Bank match with Matt, but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility.
  • Triple H is always title contender and could easily fit into the role of Wrestlemania main eventer again, especially with the backstage sway he has.
  • Edge has a way of sneaking out of almost impossible situations with the title and this match could be yet another example of this.
  • Wrestlemania XXV is likely to be The Deadman's last and although putting the title on him would almost guarentee a successful defense in order to maintain his phenomenal winning streak, it would be a fitting way for him to end the most dominant run in WWE history.

Prediction: An incredibly tough one to call. The one thing that is for certain is that it will be a great match.

Nice article, Jay. But you couldn't make a prediction for the Elimination Chamber? Aw, c'mon. Gotta make a pick! ;)

The thing that you and I both know is that WWE tends to swing their matches, especially big matches, towards a wrestler with momentum. I think you've got the Swagger-Finlay match right, and wouldn't be surprised to see WWE do the 'Christian makes a big splash by DQ'ing Finlay after he jumps Swagger out of nowhere' thing. Watch for that.

On to the Elim. Chamber match --- Let's start by eliminating the obvious 'no way in hell they're winning' competitors. I'm as likely to win the WWE championship eating pretzels in bed as Koslov is to win it. He's a no-frills heel who appears to be getting stiffer by the week. They should pit him against Regal. Easy candidate for 'most painful match to watch ever' award. No chance he's winning.

Also, the Big Show will be there as his usual huge, seemingly unbeatable monster character. But someone will knock him out, whether with some 4-on-1 or 5-on-1 action, chair, other foreign object, etc. He's not being set up to win and he won't. No chance that either Koslov or the Show wins this one. None. WWE hasn't pulled a mega-surprise like that for quite a while and this won't be any different.

So that leaves 4 - Edge, HHH, Jeff Hardy, and the Taker. Now, we all know Taker's history and, as you say, setting him up for a final title win in Wrestlemania would be nice. But I'm not feeling it here. I think he'll lose here and be booked in a big, NON-title match in Mania for his triumphant exit from the WWE.

As strange as it sounds, Triple H feels like even more of an odd man out here than Taker. He puts the A in 'A-list superstar' but I see this match and immediately think 'put over'. Triple H can sell like none other and I figure he'll get CLOSE, but not close enough. I think it'll come down to the last 3 and he'll be there, but he'll be get eliminated to set up the last 2.

And those 2 are Edge and Jeff. Come on, people. We all KNOW where this one's going. There are 2 of the 6 guys here who have a strong push and it's these 2. Jeff just had a whiff of being a champion and now is trying to get back. And Edge is ALWAYS hanging around the top like an albatross around everyone's necks. Look for these 2 to finish it out. Look for some chicanery from Edge and/or his pals. Some guaranteed craziness. Maybe some interfering with the refs thrown in for good measure.

Edge wins the WWE championship. That's how I see it...
