WWE Supplemental Draft 2009

More Moves As The WWE Finalises Its Superstar Rosters

Apr 16, 2009 Matthew Pitt

Today saw the completion of the 2009 WWE Draft, with the non-televised Supplemental Draft. Which superstars found new homes?

The WWE Supplemental Draft is traditionally a place where some of the company's less established superstars are given a new home, as the final rosters are determined for the coming year. Twenty-four superstars changed brands, but who were they? Read on to find out.

Mr. Kennedy - SmackDown to Raw

For the third year in a row, Ken Kennedy switches between SmackDown and Raw - if he breaks his current injury jinx, he could cement himself as a future star.

Cryme Tyme - Raw to SmackDown

Both Shad Gaspard and partner JTG found themselves a new home on the blue brand after almost four years on Raw. The popular Brooklyn duo will no doubt win themselves a whole new legion of fans on Friday nights.

Alicia Fox - ECW to SmackDown

The woman who nearly broke up Edge's marriage to Vickie Guerrero in 2008 returns to SmackDown. One can only wonder what WWE Creative have in store for her, given her limited wrestling ability and lack of any real gimmick.

Unified WWE World Tag Team Champions The Colóns - SmackDown to Raw

Another tag team who were drafted separately but in the same direction, the current kings of WWE's tag division will get a chance to showcase themselves on Monday nights. Look for a feud with Randy Orton's Legacy stablemates Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in the immediate future.

Mike Knox - Raw to SmackDown

The Desert Destroyer will have to reassert himself once again after his initial push on Raw died out - however, with Kane also moving to SmackDown, he may find his spot as a monster heel in the upper mid-card hard to hold on to.

Ezekiel Jackson - SmackDown to ECW

Split up from associate The Brian Kendrick, Jackson will square off against new opposition as he looks to make a name for himself against numerous smaller men on ECW.

The Bella Twins - SmackDown to Raw

The third duo to be drafted, the Bellas appear to have 'reconciled' following their recent falling out - a pair of identical twins will certainly stand out on Monday Night Raw, despite their in-ring limitations.

Candice Michelle - Raw to SmackDown

Candice's recent injury problems may be behind her, and if so, Women's Champion Melina may have a new challenger on her hands following her move to SmackDown - providing Candice can find the motivation, that is.

Zack Ryder - SmackDown to ECW

Former Edgehead Ryder will step out on his own into the Land of Extreme - however, given his extremely generic look and lack of any obvious area of expertise, he may be joining the 'WWE Future Endeavours Club' before he gets a chance to assert himself.

Chavo Guerrero - SmackDown to Raw

Despite moving from ECW to SmackDown only recently, Chavo's move to Raw seems logical given his association with his aunt, new Raw General Manager Vickie Guerrero.

Ricky Ortiz - ECW to SmackDown

Given his obvious charisma and potential, if Ortiz works on his ring skills, he could be a real asset to SmackDown. Only time will tell.

Layla - Raw to SmackDown

Another Raw Diva moves to SmackDown - Layla's association with William Regal is ended by this move, and one can assume her chances at getting regular TV time will diminish accordingly.

Hornswoggle - ECW to Raw

This can surely be nothing more than a way to separate Hornswoggle from his 'father', Finlay - there is almost nothing he can do on Raw, given his limited capacity as a comedy character.

DH Smith - SmackDown to ECW

Drafted to SmackDown last year, DH Smith never actually appeared on the brand. Expect a 'New Hart Foundation' reunion between Smith and Tyson Kidd sometime soon.

John Morrison - ECW to SmackDown

Morrison's career could skyrocket in the next few years - with The Miz moving to Raw and the two's partnership ending, this could be the boost he needs. Feuds with CM Punk and Jeff Hardy could set the WWE buzzing.

Natalya - SmackDown to ECW

After featuring on ECW regularly recently at the side of Tyson Kidd, her move has now become official. She will manage the 'New Hart Foundation' if it materialises as expected.

Festus - SmackDown to Raw

Separated from partner Jesse, one can assume that Festus will have to undergo a slight gimmick shift to survive as a singles competitor. Jesse, on the other hand, will most likely be released very soon.

Dolph Ziggler - Raw to SmackDown

The WWE seems to be serious about pushing Ziggler - a move to SmackDown could give him an opportunity to prove he's worth their time. He has obvious talent, but needs to show it sooner rather than later.

The Brian Kendrick - SmackDown to Raw

One of the most talented performers in WWE. It must be hoped that his tendency to disobey the rules backstage do not hamper his career too much - away from bodyguard Ezekiel Jackson, this could be his chance to make it on his own.

Charlie Haas - Raw to SmackDown

His 'impersonation' gimmick appears to be done with, and as much fun as it was, a change was needed. Look for a more serious Haas to impress on SmackDown, as a very talented in-ring competitor.

Hurricane Helms - SmackDown to ECW

A long-serving talent in need of a renewed push. Has the potential to be extremely popular, and could even be a future ECW Champion if handled correctly.
