WWE Survivor Series 08 Team Matches ReviewOrder of Elimination and Outcomes of the Traditional 5 on 5 Matches
The WWE continues its yearly tradition of elimination matches at Survivor Series, which took place on Sunday 23rd November at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, Ma.
Throughout its illustrious 22 year history Survivor Series has had some brilliant Elimination style team matches that have entertained the fans, and 2008's instalment was no different. While the majority of the fans will have left the event thinking about the twists and turns in the WWE Championship match some of the best performances were in the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination matches. Before reading on why not Click Here to find out who was taking part in these traditional matches and the history between them. Team HBK Vs. Team JBL Elimination MatchOrder of Elimination:
This match opened the show and did really well to set the pace. Cryme Tyme, Miz & Morrison, Mysterio and MVP all raised the pace when they were in the ring, while Kane, Khali and JBL slowed the match down with more impact. Mysterio and Khali worked quite well together and it wouldn't be surprising to see them as a tag team, should there not be any plans for them in the near future. Once again Kane jobbed to Rey, Cryme Tyme were eliminated before The Miz and Morrison and there was no clear victor in the battle between the two captains JBL and HBK, with JBL being counted out rather than losing to a pinfall or submission. Team HBK prevailed in the end when Shawn Michaels showed John Morrison exactly how a Sweet Chin Music should be delivered; putting him on the mat for the final three count of the match. Divas Team SmackDown vs. Team Raw Elimination MatchOrder of Elimination:
This was one of the rare Diva matches that were worth watching, as although the standard of wrestling wasn't amazing, the action was so fast paced it didn't really matter. All the participants put on a good performance, but the order of elimination didn't do much for the credibility of the new Diva's Championship. Michelle McCool was the third person eliminated, while the Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix was the eventual winner of the match, asserting both Raw's and her title's dominance. Maryse was the stand out performer in this match and after seeing how well she can perform, fans will surely be thinking it is only a matter of time before the Divas Championship is around her waist rather than McCool's. Team Batista vs. Team Orton Elimination MatchOrder of Elimination:
The final traditional Survivor Series match was possibly the most anticipated in the eyes of the fans. In a segment shown earlier in the event it was clear there was no love lost between Randy Orton and the rest of his team, especially Cody Rhodes, who Orton claimed was a weak link. The real weak link in the team proved to be Intercontinental Champion William Regal, whose bizarre inclusion in the match was shown to be irrelevant when C.M Punk eliminated him within the first 10 seconds of the match. After this quickfire start the match settled down and it was a while before the in match rivals began eliminating each other, with R-Truth getting a pinfall over the United States Champion Shelton Benjamin, and Cody Rhodes exacting a bit of revenge by eliminating C.M Punk who had taken his tag team title almost a month ago. Before long Batista found himself in a 4 on 1 situation, and were it not for a sneaky blind tag by Orton he may well have gone through all of them and picked up the win for his team. However, there was a tag just before Batista delivered a Batista Bomb to Rhodes, and when The Animal got to his feet, he was hit with a devastating RKO and pinned to give Orton's team the victory.
